Nick munro is everesting for charity
Outlands Project’s resident hill climber, Nick Munro, is taking on the daddy of hills….Everest.
No, he’s not heading to Nepal and strapping crampons to his feet.
However he will be riding up and down the same hill over and over again until he’s reached the height of Everest…8848mtrs.
The hill; Button’s Bank. A 1.5km climb near Durham, averaging 8% with a maximum gradient of 13%.
To achieve the elevation gain it’s calculated 110 ascents will have to be ridden totalling over 150miles and 13 hours of riding.
The date - Friday 7th June starting at 4am.
Why? Well aside from the fact he’s a psycho, he’ll be raising funds for the Newcastle Hospitals Charity whose goal is to make a positive impact at Newcastle Hospitals. They proudly support staff, patients and the wider community of the hospitals, and fund a range of initiatives – from cutting edge cancer research, to innovative medical equipment and ward refurbishments.
Outlands Project will be giving our typical full support to Nick on the day with the community joining in to ride with him or simply just by screaming encouragement in his face when he reaches the notorious “death zone” above 6000mtrs.
You too can support the attempt by donating at the link below and, even better, by getting yourself down on the day.
All funds raise go to support Outlands in 2024 and Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
